QUARRY FARM ROUNDABOUT, INGLEBY BARWICK
TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURES

INFORMATION PROVIDED BY NETWORK SAFETY,
STOCKTON-ON-TEES BOROUGH COUNCIL

"As you will be aware we are presently carrying out works to the existing roundabout at the junction of The Rings, Myton Way, Queen Elizabeth Way and Lowfields Avenue.

The purpose of these works is to increase the capacity of the existing roundabout, to improve the existing pedestrian crossing facilities on Myton Way & The Rings and to reduce traffic using the Rings as a through route.

In order to help minimise the diruption to the traffic during the latter stages of the works, we have programmed the final carriageway reconstruction, plannin and surfcing operations to take place during the school summer holidays and the first two weeks in September.

Substaintial completion of the works will be achieved by 28th August including operation of the two new controlled crossing facilities.

The link below shows a drawing of the proposed phasing of these works with the associated temporary road closures.

Where pedestrian & cyclist routes are affected by these proposals they will be signed accordingly."

Paula Hall,
on behalf of Ingleby Barwick Town Council.

Register to Vote - Changes to Voter Registration

From 10 June 2014 the way everyone registers to vote changed in a big way. A more modern, secure system of electoral registration was introduced. The new voter registration system is called ‘Individual Electoral Registration’(IER).

What is different about the new IER system?
As its name implies, every individual will become responsible for their own registration from 10 June.

The new IER system will also offer people the opportunity to register online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote. This will make voter registration easier and quicker. People wishing to register online will need to input their date of birth and national insurance number.

If anyone does not have internet access or finds it difficult to do so can register by telephone instead using the Voter Registration Helpline (01642) 526196. Please note that they will still need to provide their date of birth and national insurance number.

Please Note: If you have registered yourself at your current address since 10th June 2014 in England and Wales or 19th September 2014 in Scotland - and you have not moved house since - you will be registered to vote under the new system. You will also be registered to vote if you have received information at your current address telling you that you are registered under the new system.

If you are unsure whether you are registered under the new system, please contact the
Voter Registration Helpline.

PUBLIC CONSULTATION
Proposed Erection of Ornamental Railings around the War Memorial

Ingleby Barwick War Memorial, which was provided by Ingleby Barwick Town Council, is sited at a prominent central location adjacent to the main entrance into Romano Park.

As residents will be aware, 2014 is the Centenary of the beginning of the First World War.

Ingleby Barwick Town Council is currently looking to erect ornamental railings, funded by the Town Council, which would be positioned around the outer edge of the War Memorial.

It is proposed that these be erected in 2014 to commemorate the Centenary. The railings would provide a secure place to which we can attach wreaths etc.
Currently, wreaths are laid loosely at the War Memorial and are subject to being blown around in inclement weather.

The Town Council would like to hear residents views on the proposal and would be grateful to receive your comments.

Please send your comments, in writing, to the Town Council by Friday 31st October 2014 using the contact details below:

Background

Within each Local Authority area, legislation requires Councils to carry out reviews of Polling Districts and Polling Places in that area.

The recent Electoral Registration & Administration Act 2013 changed the timing of these reviews and the next review must be held between 1 October and 31 January 2015 with subsequent reviews held within a 16 month period starting on 1 October every fifth year after 1 October 2013.

The Council’s last review was held in 2011 when a number of minor changes were made.
